1. Used to make special alloy. Ytterbium alloy has been used in dental medicine for metallurgical and chemical experiments.
2. In recent years, ytterbium has developed rapidly in optical fiber communication and laser technology. Ytterbium ions, like erbium and thulium, can be used as optical fiber amplification materials for optical communication due to their excellent spectral properties. Ytterbium is also used as a high-quality laser material, not only as a laser crystal, but also as a laser glass and fiber laser.
