About Strontium Titanate (STO) Powder

Strontium Titanate Powder (SrTiO3 Powder) is an oxide of strontium and titanium with the chemical formula SrTiO3, short for STO. At room temperature, it is a centrosymmetric paraelectric dielectric material with perovskite structure. At low temperature, it is close to the ferroelectric phase transition with a very large dielectric constant of ~104, but maintains a paraelectric state until the lowest temperature measured as a result of quantum fluctuations, making it a quantum paraelectric state.

Preparation

High-purity titanium tetrachloride, strontium chloride and high-purity oxalic acid solution are reacted at 60-70°C for 1 hour to obtain strontium titanate oxalate. Strontium titanate oxalate is then washed, dried, and calcined to obtain strontium titanate powder.

Strontium titanate (SrTiO3) has a typical perovskite structure. It is a widely used electronic functional ceramic material. As it has the advantages of high dielectric constant, low dielectric loss and good thermal stability, it is widely used in electronic, mechanical and ceramic industries. At the same time, as a kind of functional material, strontium titanate has the characteristics of high band gap (3.4 ev), excellent photocatalytic activity, unique electromagnetic properties and redox catalytic activity. It also has been widely used in photocatalytic fields such as photocatalytic decomposition of water to produce hydrogen, photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants and photochemical batteries.
