Silicon metal is high purity polysilicon produced by the improved Siemens method. Hydrogen chloride (or purchased hydrogen chloride) is synthesized from chlorine and hydrogen, and trichlorosilane is synthesized from hydrogen chloride and industrial silicon powder at a certain temperature. Then trichlorosilane is separated, rectified and purified. Then, the purified trichlorosilane is processed into high-purity polysilicon by chemical vapor deposition in a hydrogen reduction furnace.

The process design of polysilicon production by improved Siemens method is roughly divided into the following processes: H2 preparation and purification, HCl synthesis, SiHCl3 synthesis, syngas dry separation, chlorosilane separation and purification, SiHCl3 hydrogen reduction, reduction tail gas dry separation, SiCl4 hydrogenation, hydrogenated gas dry separation, silicon core preparation and product finishing, waste gas and residual liquid treatment, etc.

Typical application:

Silicon metal also called polycrystalline silicon or polysilicon, is a material consisting of small silicon crystals. It differs from single-crystal silicon, used for electronics and solar cells, and from amorphous silicon, used for thin film devices and solar cells.

Synonyms: silicon lump, Si lump, silicon chucks, polysilicon, polycrystalline silicon
