About Pyrolytic Boron Nitride Sheet (PBN sheet)
Pyrolytic Boron Nitride (PBN) is a kind of advanced ceramic, and it can be produced with 99.99% purity in high density. It is made by ammonia and Boron halide through chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process in high temperature and high vacuum condition:NH3 +BX3 =BN+3HX. The deposition process of PBN is like falling snow: the hexagonal primary boron nitride falls on graphite matrix material, and finally cooled and demolded after reaching a certain thickness.
The atomic spacing between layers is 3.33 Å, and that within layers is 1.45 Å. The structure of PBN is composed of B and N atoms alternately arranged in the layer and along the c-axis, respectively. Under high power microscope, the stacking faults of PBN show that the average spacing between them is larger than that of theoretical layers. Because PBN grows along the c-axis during the deposition process, it shows a high layer orientation, and the preferred orientation is the c-axis.
It can be produced as PBN sheet, and also can be produced as PBN final products like crucible, boat, coating, etc.
Features of Pyrolytic Boron Nitride (PBN):
- The material is ivory white or light yellow, non-toxic, non-porous and easy to process.
- Purity ≥99.99%, compact surface and good air tightness.
- It is resistant to high temperature and thermal shock. It is not easy to oxidize at 900 °C and works at 2200 °C in vacuum environment.
- It is resistant to acid and alkali at room temperature and does not wet with most metals, semiconductors and other materials at high temperature.
- High resistance, high dielectric strength, good microwave and infrared transmission performance.
- It has obvious anisotropy in mechanical, thermal and electrical properties.
Pyrolytic Boron Nitride (PBN) Typical Applications:
Crucible and base for synthesis of semiconductor single crystal and III-V compounds
LEC series crucible for in situ synthesis of GaAs, InP and gap single crystals
MBE series crucible for molecular beam extension
Crucible, VGF series
PBN/PG composite heater coating
Graphite heater insulation coating
High temperature insulating fluid nozzle
MOCVD insulation board
Special shaped crucible and special shaped graphite coating
Composite heater for wafer annealing process
The ceramic insulating sheet made of PBN with high insulation and thermal conductivity is used in aviation and radar. If the glass around the screen is heated at 1200 °C, it will not adhere to the OLED tray.
