Nickel (Ni) is a silvery white metal. It’s a hard, malleable, ferromagnetic metallic element, which is highly polished and resistant to corrosion. The mechanical property of nickel is close to that of carbon steel. Its alkaline corrosion resistance is second only to that of silver in metal materials. A black protective film will be formed on the surface of nickel wire in concentrated alkali, which makes it very corrosion resistant.

It is mainly used for light source materials and coating, with high surface quality and good processing performance. It can be used for making work such as anode, spacer, electrode bracket, etc. it can also be used as lead wire in bulb. In addition, it plays a very important role in chlor alkali industry. Electrical grade materials have many kinds of alloys due to different service conditions. Moreover, the electrode materials are required to have low resistivity to avoid electrode overheating, high temperature strength to reduce material wear, and sticky melting volatilization under the action of arc to improve service life.

NCE can provide the Nickel products in various shapes, like the wires, flat wires, strips and foils, with the purity up to 99.6% min. The raw material is high-purity electrolytic nickel. The nickel is easy to be processed either in hot or cold state. It has high surface quality and good processing performance. Get a Quote Now!

Typical Mechanical Properties

Material Tensile Strength Yield Strength (0.2% Offset) Elongation in 2″ (%)
  ksi MPa ksi MPa
Nickel 200 (N6) 55-75 380-520 15-30 105-210 40
Nickel 201 (N4) 55-75 380-520 15-30 105-210 40

The difference between pure nickel 201 (N4) and pure nickel 200 (N6) is that the highest carbon content of the former is 0.02% and that of the latter is 0.15%. Pure nickel 201 has good corrosion resistance under high temperature and high concentration of alkali and chloride ion.

Main Applications

Pure nickel 200 (N6): corrosive product production and storage equipment, vinyl chloride monomer production equipment, food processing equipment, etc.

Pure nickel 201 (N4): evaporator for corrosive products with operating temperature above 315°C, alkali industry, synthetic fiber production, fresh water and other water treatment.
