Germanium Monocrystalline

Germanium Monocrystalline
Product Germanium Monocrystalline (Ge Monocrystalline)
Form Crystal, single crystal, single chip
Part Number GE-03
CAS Number 7440-56-4

Germanium monocrystalline has a bright silver gray and cylindrical crystal appearance. It is a periodic table IV group element and semiconductor. It has covalent bonding and a diamond structure, hard but fragile. High-purity germanium single crystal has high refractive index, transparent to infrared ray but not to visible light or ultraviolet ray.

Germanium single crystal doped with a small amount of specific impurities can be used to make various transistors, rectifiers and other devices.

Germanium single crystal is prepared by CZ method or VGF method with zone melting germanium ingot as raw material.

Typical Applications:

Germanium single crystal is the first generation transistor material. High purity germanium single crystal has high refractive index and is transparent to infrared light but opaque to visible light and ultraviolet light. It can be used as a germanium window, prism or lens for infrared light transmission. The infrared night vision instrument and other military observation instruments also use pure germanium to make lenses.
