Synonyms: scandium(III) chloride; scandium chloride; scandium trichloride; scandium(III) chloride, anhydrous (99.9%-Sc) (REO); scandium(III) chloride, anhydrous (99%-Sc) (REO), sublimed; scandium(III) chloride, anhydrous, ScCl3; scandium chloride, 99.9%; Scandium(III) chloride anhydrous, powder, 99.9% trace metals basis

Typical Applications:

Research reagents. Scandium chloride can be used to make high melting point alloys. Scandium master alloys were prepared by the doping method, the scandium fluoride or scandium oxide metal thermal reduction method and the molten salt electrolysis method.

Packing and Storage

Standard Packing:

Packed in sealed bags and bottles. Special package is available on request.

Storage:

The storage method of a substance is directly related to the physical and chemical properties of the substance. When storing rare earth products in laboratories or enterprises, the following eight principles should be followed.

  1. The principle of sealing. Most rare earth products must be sealed, which is an important principle for product preservation. It mainly applies products with the following properties: products that are easily deliquescent, reagents that are easy to react with water vapor, and reagents that are easy to be oxidized or reduced.
  2. The principle of avoiding light. For rare earth products that are easily decomposed by exposure to light or heat, avoid sunlight and store them in a cool place.
  3. The principle of isolation. Rare earth products should be kept away from fire sources, and strong oxidants should be kept separate from easily oxidized substances.
  4. The principle of ventilation. The storage of most rare earth products must follow this principle, especially strong oxidants.
  5. Low temperature principle. Too high temperature will easily decompose the product, especially when the weather is hot in summer. Cooling treatment can be carried out if necessary.
